IPL / SHR Buying Guide

IPL and SHR systems are compared on wavelength bands, energy per mode, frequency per mode, spot size, and cooling. The SHR-950 model on this site lists HR at 650 to 950 nanometres and SR at 560 to 950 nanometres, with options VR, AR, and PR. Energy is listed at 10 to 50 joules per square centimetre for IPL and E-light and 1 to 10 for SHR. Frequency is listed at 1 to 20 for IPL and E-light, and for SHR at 1 to 8 in HR and 1 to 3 in SR. Spot size is 15 by 50 millimetres for HR and 10 by 40 for SR, and the lowest treatment head temperature is minus 10 degrees Celsius.

The HR and SR bands have different jobs: HR is the hair removal band and SR is the skin rejuvenation band, and the machine's value is in covering both with one platform. SHR mode differs from IPL mode in energy and frequency, and the in-motion technique is part of how SHR is used. Before ordering, confirm which wavelength options are included in your configuration, the lamp lifetime, and the consumables each mode requires.

A note on search intent: the generic IPL machine term is dominated by home-use devices in search results, which is why this guide does not use it as a product target. The SHR-950 is professional equipment for salons and clinics, and this guide is written from that purchasing perspective. The DPL-titled page on this site is a separate case: it publishes an SHR-950B comparison table and states plainly that DPL-specific parameters are unpublished, and those values must not be read as DPL parameters.

For the model itself, see the SHR-950 page, and for the related light machine, see the DPL machine page.
